Early in the month the chart kept circling songs actually named august — Taylor Swift’s for a few days, then Ophelia Wilde’s, which stayed on the list into the full Top 50. From August 18 we captured Instagram’s daily Top 50 in full. Ranked by chart points (50 for #1 down to 1 for #50, added up each day), these are the songs that trended hardest through the 31st.

Ten different songs held #1 in 14 days. Valleys kept it August 22–24, the only streak. Seduce and Golden Embers each had it twice, not back-to-back. Let Him Cook, first on points, was #1 only on the 21st.

Thirteen of the twenty were on the chart every day we captured. The other seven came and went. Loser jumped from #18 to #1 on the 26th, held #2–3 for three days, then left the 50. Seduce bookends the window: #1 on the 18th and the 20th, off the list mid-month, back at #2 on the 30th.

Tame Impala placed three songs in the 20: The Less I Know The Better at #3, Loser at #14, and Dracula at #17. Cigarettes After Sex landed two. The Weeknd had the most distinct tracks anywhere on the Top 50 — seven — led by the instrumental of Timeless.

Filling the 50 is not the same as owning it. None of those seven was song of the month. That went to a single XNIMXS track Reels did not stop using, with WOAH’s Valleys right behind it — one title each, every day.

The last four days of August handed #1 to instrumental and regional audio: a guitar piece, a violin cover, a flute melody, then an Onam track. The Reels chart is not a pop chart. It is whatever people actually used that day.
